The House That Lars Built x Mixbook Collection
This summer, we’re thrilled to introduce you to a world of whimsy and color, all brought you by Brittany Jepsen, of The House That Lars Built! When we first worked with Brittany at our seasonal pop up event CreateCelebrate Holiday last year, we fell in love with her creativity and eye for unique design. Fast forward to summer of 2019 — The House That Lars Built x Mixbook collection has arrived!
About Brittany Jepsen & The House That Lars Built
Brittany Watson Jepsen is the founder and creative director of The House That Lars Built. She is a published author with a passion for color, crafts and flowers, and has quickly become the go-to source for whimsical design inspiration. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, Vogue, CNN, and more.
I grew up teething on the seaweed of Southern California though I preferred reading and creating in the great indoors. My mom’s favorite quote was “a creative mess is better than tidy idleness” and so my childhood was spent creating art work, music, and yes, lots of messes.

Where did you get your inspiration for this collection?
As a designer, nature is my favorite source for inspiration. So when I had the opportunity to design some guided photo books and wedding stationery with Mixbook, I knew I needed to tap into Mother Nature once again to capture the gorgeous colors, florals, and foliage that make life so beautiful and create a perfect backdrop for life’s cherished moments.
The House That Lars Built created colorful and whimsical themes for a travel, year-in-review, and a wedding guest book with matching stationery.
Rainbow Travel Scrapbook
A gorgeous, textured rainbow cover design is the perfect start to your colorful adventures! This travel photo book was designed with traditional scrapbook elements like washi tape graphics, notepad paper backgrounds, and hand-painted textures to give it that authentic journal feel. With a touch of rainbow color palettes, The House That Lars Built makes scrapbooking a real modern adventure.
Document your favorite travel moments and include personal anecdotes and inside jokes so you’ll cherish these memories for years to come.
Mod Year in Review
This photo book design is just plain cool! We’re getting a colorful mid-century modern vibe with a touch of abstract whimsy, aren’t you? Mod Year in Review by The House That Lars Built is the perfect choice to host all your memories from the past year.
At the heart of Lars is our desire to work with our hands so we started out by using some of our favorite craft methods like paper cutting and good old-fashioned pen and ink sketching. Getting back to the root of making allows us to absorb ourselves into the process and create a product with rich layers, a quality you can’t always get when you start out digitally. - Brittany Jepsen
This hand-cut paper inspired design uses bold colors and fun abstract patterns to showcase your favorite moments of the year. Include a collage of your favorite memories, notes on where you went and what you saw, and all little details that make your family so special.
Floral Wedding Guestbook & Wedding Suite
The House That Lars Built is known for publishing creative books with prompted instructions to create an interactive experience. We wanted to include that same style in a wedding guestbook. Providing wedding guests with prompts would help spark their favorite memories of the newlyweds and create a guestbook full of loving messages and notes!
This beautiful floral guestbook comes with a matching wedding suite featuring real foil embellishments! Available in four different designs, this wedding stationery set is blossoming with gorgeous illustrations.
Choose from gold, silver, or rose gold!
A decorative floral frame adorns your message or photo, while floating on a soft marble background.
The House That Lars Built x Mixbook collection is a true whimsical adventure. Bursting with soothing color palettes and inspiration from nature, there’s a design made to elevate your photo memories and special occasions.
