How to Throw a New Year's Eve Party

For many, New Year’s Eve is a time of new beginnings- and one way to make sure it's off to a good start is to plan your own evening of fun. Whether you’re planning a theme or just having some friends over to gab, get your cards and unique photo books sent out and your ducks in a row now because the ball will be dropping before you know it! Here are some ideas for a party this New Year’s Eve.

Throw the easiest New Year’s Eve Party

For a low-key affair (think food, drinks, Times Square in the background) let friends know what you’re planning from the get go. Maybe there are kids running around underfoot, maybe midnight is actually 9pm – either way, a good time will be had by all. Beer, wine and champagne for the ball dropping are always a great idea. To take some of the pressure off of having to do it all yourself perhaps suggest a potluck where guests bring nibbles that they love. Honestly, this is my favorite kind of New Year’s Eve. Close friends, loud laughter, comfy jeans…what’s not to love!

Plan a themed New Year’s Eve Party

When you want to celebrate New Year’s with a blast, a theme is a must. From dressing up like the roaring 1920s to a black-and-white celebration, get your guests excited with a stylish invitation that introduces the grand plan.

One of the greatest things about having a themed New Year’s Eve party is all of the places you can go when planning it. From coordinating decorations to food and drinks, a themed party is a ball to plan. Having a decade party? Serve Manhattan’s with canapés and channel your inner Don Draper or wear tie-dye and get groovy.

As for fun NewYear’s Eve party crafts, we have two easy DIY projects that will go with any midnight celebration

Glitter Bottles

Simply use a spray adhesive and cover champagne bottles in gold or silver glitter

Confetti Balloons

To be popped when the ball drops, fill transparent balloons with glitter and inflate. When the countdown is over, pop and let the confetti rain down in celebration.

Feeling the Great Gatsby this year? Hire a brass band and serve nothing but champagne and sidecars while you dance the night away. A little research into your theme and people will be talking about this New Year’s Eve for 365 days to come.

Activities to have at your New Year’s Eve Party

An activity party is also a fun way to go. From game nights to an elaborate sit-down dinner with food and wine pairings, choose what you love and go with it. Friends will appreciate your thoughtfulness in planning something so specific for them to enjoy.
