DIY Christmas Gifts Everyone Will Love

DIY Christmas Gifts Everyone Will Love

Unique Christmas gifts are hard to come by - but can spread extra holiday cheer by creating your own gifts that everyone will love. Some are more expensive than others are, and some take more time to create...but overall, the DIY Christmas gifts you'll find in this guide are easy to make and well worth the effort. In addition to these gifts, consider making a photo book or photo card to a loved one.

DIY Christmas Gifts Everyone on Your Gift List Will Love

The best gifts come from the heart, so check out these tried-and-true favorites that will bring a smile to your friends' and family members' faces:

1. Marbled catch-all trays

2. Homemade soup mixes

3. Homemade sugar scrubs

4. Acrylic photo blocks

5. Cookie kits

DIY Christmas Gift #1: Marbled Catch-All Trays

Everyone on your gift list needs a good way to corral small items, whether they're dealing with jewelry on countertops or loose change on a nightstand. A marbled catch-all tray, which you can make for under $10, is the perfect gift for someone in need of a little help in the organization department. All you need is oven-bake clay, an oven-safe bowl and metallic paint. Roll various clay colors into snakes (just like kindergarten), then wind them together to create a candy-cane look. Form the wound strip into a ball, and flatten it with a rolling pin. Cut out a circle that fits in your oven-safe bowl, then bake it in the oven and cool according to the manufacturer's instructions. Paint the outer edge with metallic paint and cover it in gloss.

DIY Christmas Gift #2: Homemade Soup Mixes

Show your loved ones how much you care - and how much you want them to stay warm this winter - with homemade soup mixes in Mason jars. Layer dry ingredients in the jar, with the smallest grains on the bottom and close the jar. Print out cooking instructions on a cute tag and tie it to the mouth of the jar and you have an instant hit.

DIY Christmas Gift #3: Homemade Sugar Scrubs

Thoughtful and sweet (literally), a homemade sugar scrub is the perfect gift for someone who has it all. You need a mason jar, a decorative label (print with Mixbook!) and some ribbon - plus coconut oil, sugar and essential oils - to create a wonderfully lavish scrub that the recipient can use for an in-home spa day. You need 1 cup granulated sugar (white or brown), a half-cup of coconut oil and essential oils. Mix the sugar and coconut oil together to create a blend with the consistency of damp sand, and fold in essential oils for fragrance.

DIY Christmas Gift #4: Acrylic Photo Blocks

Choose your favorite photo - preferably one with you and the recipient having a great time together - and create a fabulous acrylic photo block that looks great on a desk, a fireplace mantel or elsewhere. With just a few clicks, you can create a photo block bursting with vivid colors and a great scene.

DIY Christmas Gift #5: Cookie Kits

Put together a sweet treat for anyone on your holiday gift list with a handmade cookie kit. You'll need a decorated mixing bowl, some Mason jars and a few glass bulb ornaments, as well as rubber spatulas, a festive towel and a hot pad, and the ingredients.

First, layer the ingredients in a Mason jar with some of the powdered ingredients (flour, baking soda and salt) on the bottom. Then add chips, packed brown sugar and granulated sugar (in that order) and seal the jar. Print baking instructions on a label and personalize as desired.

Fill glass bulb ornaments with fun cookie toppers, like sprinkles and sugar crystals. Then, line the mixing bowl with the festive towel so you can arrange all the elements of the gift inside.
