Carrie Kiefer & Morgan Georgie are the creative duo behind Ampersand Design studio. Proving the old phrase true "teamwork makes the dream work", Carrie and Morgan left their corporate jobs to launch their own design studio centered around their shared aesthetic and FUN personalities.

They followed a long-time dream to start a business creating patterns and artwork for modern, everyday living. Ampersand quickly became known for combining graphic and handmade marks to create bold patterns in refreshing color palettes. Carrie and Morgan work with pencil to paints to find that unique Ampersand mark you'd find today across home decor products, textiles, and stationery.

Falling in love with their bright pops of color, modern pattern designs, and eclectic textures, we were so excited to have Ampersand Design Studio join the Mixbook Designer Collection.

We sat down with the talent duo to get a closer look at their creative process and favorite elemets from their new vacation photo book theme.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

We find inspiration literally everywhere we go—from the ceiling of a favorite restaurant to an accidental color palette from painted buildings placed next to each other. We like to experiment with different mediums but we always return to cut paper, pen & ink and paint! We collaborate and sit together while we create, frequently passing the art back and forth between each other. Sometimes one of us starts a piece and hands off to the other one for color or vice versa. Ampersand is a true joining of both of our work as one! We like to joke that we never grew out of that whole rainbow-loving phase from our childhood in the 1980s. Our art is frequently full of bright, fun and bold color!

Why were you excited to design for Mixbook.com?

We've always loved sharing and documenting our adventures, but have never been big into scrapbooking because we couldn't seem to find the time. This is a great way to get pictures off of our devices so we can enjoy them in a photo book customized with our own personal touch!

What about this photo book are you most proud of?

Each piece of art and hand lettering is created by hand. We love giving others a way to document their own moments with our unique art!
